10 Nov 5 simple and quick exercises to boost your energy at work
If you work in an office, the chances to spend a minimum of 7 hours sitting down are very big – that’s 35 hours a week. Besides that, you might drive to work, sit down home to watch TV or read a book. If you think that’s without any health risks, you’d be seriously mistaken. So next time you’re feeling a bit asleep or you can take a small break, try these simple and quick exercises to increase your energy so you can get back to work more focused.
1. When we don’t sit properly (and let’s be honest, it happens most of the time) we are reducing the ability for blood to circulate properly, especially in our legs. What can you do? Remain seated, extend your legs and reach down towards your toes.
2. A natural stretch when we are a bit tired. Simply raise your arms above your head, interlock your fingers and push away from yourself. Feeling better yet?
3. This one’s for those who spend almost all day typing. Simply stand up and place your hands as in the picture below and apply pressure until you feel the stretch and the relaxation. Repeat a few times then follow with some wrist circles.
4. When you spend almost all day sitting, you lose a lot of your mobility and balance. Using the desk for support , stand up and raise your leg behind you, grabbing hold of the ankle. Lift the leg as high as you can keeping your knee bent at a right angle. Hold for a few second then repeat the move with the other leg.
5. Stand several feet behind your chair. Raise both arms overhead and stretch them to the chair, using it as support and holding your back straight. Hold this position for a few seconds then raise back and repeat this exercise a few times.
