12 Goals for making 2018 your healthiest year yet

11 Jan 12 Goals for making 2018 your healthiest year yet

At the beginning of the year, most of us set a number of goals. We accomplish them or not, they represent desires or milestones to become the person we want to be. Inevitably, we repeat resolutions like: eating healthier, exercise more, be optimistic. But in order to respect at least a part of them, you must have a plan. A goal without a plan is just a wish.

Aim o goal per month, depending on difficulty or what ispires you. Thus, step by step, at the end of the year, you will set a path and you will be able to determine which goal was more difficult, where you still need to improve and what changes in your behaviour have occured.

January

Start the year in a good mood, practicing meditation. According to specialists, meditation reduces stress, improves sleep quality and lowers blood pressure. If you are not comfortable yet with meditation, you can start with some relaxation breathing techniques.

February

Evaluate your health. You can start with non-invasive methods such as finding Body Mass or Muscle Mass indexes and adopt strategies to do small changes in your habits. Learn how to have a good posture and how to prevent professional diseases. If you work at the office, sedentary lifestyle is not good for your health. Not only causes premature aging, also cause obesity, diabetes or cardiovascular diseases.

March

The cold season is over so you can start exercise. Regardless the activity or the location chosen, take every opportunity to exercise. You can combine fitness training with outdoor exercise to get the best results and to eliminate the risk of routine that occurs when you are doing the same activities.

April

Take care of your diet and learn how to cook healthy. The change of the seasons is the best time for a change in your eating habits, dropping out the fat-rich, hypercaloric diets. Go to a nutritionist who can create a personalized nutrition program based on your food profile, genetic factors or goals.

May

Plan your vacation and take care of your financial wellness. Are your expenditures a constant source of stress? Write down everything, identify your financial habits and what expenses to reconsider. Try to make the best of your resources and learn how to save money to focus on the goals that matters most.

June

It’s time to learn something new or to practice an old skill. Handmade activities, for instance, are a good way to boost creativity, practice patience and relax. Dancing, painting or floral design? It depends on your hobbies or abilities, do not set up barriers just because you never try it.

July

Join a cause you resonate with and get involved in community service. Good acts keep us in the sphere of positive actions and our contribution and involvement will make us feel fulfilled. If you don’t want to donate money, volunteer! You will „donate” time and energy.

August is the month of relaxations and communication. Call someone you have not talked for long time, contact your old friends, spend more time with your family! Travel and get in touch with new people. Enjoy your free time and relax!

September

You’re back from vacation and feel in good mood and ready for new challenges. Pay attention to your personal development. Improve your skills, look up for a course to help you become self-confident and to positively influence you professionally.

October

Did you managed to eat healthy during these months? Then your immunity is at a good level and do not have to worry about colds. Reevaluate your health to see what improvements brought all the changes.

November is the month of balance, so evaluate the year and think how much time you had for yourself and how much for professional life. Put them on a balance. Learn about work-life balance and time management. And if one of the goals has not been met, you can do things even better next year!

December

New Year’s resolutions again. But before that, you have to practice gratitude. Research shows that being grateful can improve both our physical and emotional well-being. A study done at the University of California, Davis, found that people who routinely count their moments they are grateful for, have a better health, sleep better and are happier.
